On the 12th of December in 2012, The Belgian Institute of Non-Violent Resistance was established to create a national network in which ideas and practices of Non-violent Resistance and New Authority could be further explored. The BIGV is open to everyone who wishes to translate and develop the concepts Non-Violent Resistance and New Authority in his daily work.
Today, BIGV has become an official international training partner of the Tel Aviv Center for NVR Psychology founded by Haim Omer.
The BIGV operates with the following as it’s main aims:
- Promoting and supporting the practice of Non-violent Resistance within the large scope of mental health care professionals and society.
- Organising training and conferences and create a platform for peer review and exchange of knowledge and expertise on Non-violent Resistance and New Authority
- Promoting and supporting research and the development of new applications of Non-violent Resistance and New Authority.
The BIGV works under the guidance of human values coupled with references to international conventions on human rights and equally important, adolescent rights. They also work with respect to the diversity in families whether it may be cultural, relational and/or personal.
